After my near death experience ;-), I hit the treadmill for an easy thirty minute run. I am in the transition phase of my yearly tri training plan, and everything is at or below aerobic threshold (AeT). I found out something really neat on the treadmill last night too. If I focused on my form and stayed around 90 steps per minute, I could keep my heart rate under 147 (est AeT). When I let my mind drift and lose focus, like by watching the game on TV, my HR would creep back up above 150. This is some kinda sign that proper form = more efficiency.
Tomorrow, its back on the trainer for a ride, then off to the gym for some fo reals strength training, all in preparation for drinking my weight in beer to ring in the new year!

PS - I just posted the IM AZ videos Jeff just gave me - perhaps a little more for you to peek at and get a lay of the land.
Drinking Beer? Not you.....really.......
Get on that fo realzy strength training Weslicious.
They've done studies that when you're distracted during exercise, you actually perform at a less efficient level than when you're focused on what you're doing. Still, the distractions are nice, aren't they?
Oh Wes, I love that you are keeping it real even though you are an Ironman! Ironmen really drink beer on New Year's? :)
Since you are parading around the meat market (gym)...how much you bench pressin' these days???
I did 185 the other day because the chick marine who out benched me was at the bench next to me...I about blew my freakin' pecs apart, that's heavy!
since I enjoyed a bit to much wine on Christmas Day I refuse to drink anymore....until tomorrow night ;)
Hmmm I suppose focusing on your form would then make you have good form...I should try that some time hehe
Happy New Year Wes and DeeDee :)
I do like going faster with less or even effort.
I'm in Atlanta drinking beer right now, very close to little five points. Not sure what tonite will bring. Happy New Year.
