Out with the Old

I've had this site for a little more than two years now.  I've been pretty happy with it.  The blog header was something that I threw together in a few minutes.  It has served its purpose.  It has been simple, elegant, and functional.

Now, I want something new.  I'm thinking maybe a color change, a layout change, and a new header.  I don't want the screen to be all busy with graphics.  It needs to load fast, and the code behind it needs to either be free (without ads), or my own work.

If any of you kind stalkers have an opinion on what, where, and how, please feel free to give me some comment love :-)

In other news...

The P90X saga continues.  This is the first week of the second month.  I got to do a new routine, Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps.  This one left out the chin ups and pull ups, which was nice, but lots of other arm wrenching goodness.  I continue to make progress.  From a strength standpoint, I feel stronger than ever, even at the end of Ironman training.  From a cardiovascular standpoint, I'm probaly at 60-70% of where I ended Ironman Florida.

I do like my flattening belly though!

Wes

That's where my new template came from - they're pretty easy to install. My layout is not their only option either. :)

Darn.. second to comment.. one day I'll be first...

Anyhow, mine's from http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/ but I'm guessing their selection may be too "busy" for what you're after??

Happy hunting!

You go on with your bad ass self and that p90x/ How far along are you now?!

As for templates and such? I actually like the "plain" one that blogger has and then I just find a header I like while skimming the internet. Then change the colors and fonts to whatever I like thru the "Fonts And Colors" Blogger option.

Nothing wrong with your blog template. Yours is similar to mine via blogger. B/G Color will warm it up a bit.

Whatever it is, it's gotta have more cowbell! ;-)

Just changed mine up a bit to a 3 column. Used one of bloggers then changed the html a lil with a step by step direction found online. I am changing my header but paying a small ammt since runner sussan has a sale.
Way to keep rocking that p90x Wes!

I'm the last one to comment on blog layout. I've had the same layout for 3 and 1/2 years. I'm not so innovative in that department.

For a moment there I thought you were shutting down! Phew!

I'm with LBTEPA, I thought you were going to announce the end of your blogging.

I'm REALLY glad that isn't the case. :-)

I like the cutest blog on the block but I think it's generally a bit girly.

I can see you with a new custom header, though. :-)

new masthead, some background colors and you'd be pretty revamped. I really like wordpress wand since you are a coder (yes?), you might enjoy. alternatively, you could play with the blogger code (I did that on my old blog to use the template, but change the look of it)

A new look? Whee! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Blogger code is fairly simplistic. It is mainly controlled by CSS and as you edit it, I have noticed some things (colors, fonts) can then be controlled without editing the HTML/CSS

I want a flattened belly...damn, you mean I gotta earn it? For the love of Pete, I hate a crunch or any ab thing more than anything!

Change is good! I look forward to seeing what you decide to do!

Heck...I am always changing my blog...

I know little to nothing about computers and the fancy schmancy stuff. But maybe a header with some pictures compiled from your races? Family pics? Still simple, but a little jazzed up!

I do not know about the blog layout, but I think a nice pink paisley pattern would be work, it would definately be original.

Nice work on P90X. It sounds like you are hittin' it hard and seeing the results. Awesome!

They have always done mine and she'll actually be putting a new up for me today, it only costs $35.00 too.

Ooooh. New year, new changes! Exciting. How about something to do with being active, triathlon, or fitness in the title?

oh geez, if I have to p90 to get a flat belly, there's no hope for me!

I will live vicariously through you. ;-)

I vote for keeping the white and buying a header from sumy designs. That is what I am in the process of doing. :>)

Alright... the phrase "flattening belly" has pushed me to further research P90x....

Looks like someone needs to learn about JPG compression ratios. Try a PNG format file. It'll look a lot cleaner.

Keep bringing it. Your doing great. When this training for the half marathon is over I'm going to have to do the P90X again to get ready for the pool.

I like the way your blog looks :)

Change is good ... a little spice. :)

I like the templates at
Free Blogger Skins.

They are easy to install and can be manipulated with your own header, if you prefer.

P.S. I got my bonus. ;)
