Not Excited

I am not excited today.  I still find it hard to believe that millions of Americans are gullible for that well worn campain slogan:  Hope and Change.  I'm more of a show me the money kind of guy.  Don't try and tell me Obama will change the face of government in Washington (and the world).  Nobody can predict the future.  I sincerely want him to succeed, but only time will tell.

Dee Dee and I went out on a date night Friday night.  I'm not sure what sexual connotations "loosening" her up brings to your mind, but it got a few comments on Facebook :-)   In truth, when one is stressed, a little drinking and dancing goes a long ways towards relief.  We went to this little dive in our neighborhood.  Woodstock is about 15 miles due north of the perimeter of Atlanta.  It is almost entirely self sufficient.  I rarely go to Atlanta for anything.  In any case, this dive/dance club for divorcees and yuppees is right up the street from the house.  I knew our little hole in the wall had arrived when much to my surprise, there was a bathroom attendant.  Put us on the map!

After our night of debauchery, Dee Dee promptly got sick.  Total bummer.  She's been working so hard and now has to fight off a nasty cold.  Boo!!

My last couple of workouts have been with P90X with weights.  I worked hard too.  So hard, as a matter of fact, that I am still feeling sore from Friday's workout.  Due to being extremely busy at work, I didn't get to my Monday workout until 8 PM last night.  I could barely do any of the ab exercises, even though I worked real hard on arms and chest.

Five more weeks until triathlon training begins a new.  You guys are dying for my after pics, right?  ;-)

ROFLMAO Wes!! I think it would be easier to loosen her up if you did the dishes, laundry and then rubbed her feet after she got home from work :P

I'm ready for those pics, baby! Bring em on! But be careful. Don't want to get Ryan too excited LOL

You hit my thoughts exactly with Obama there Wes. I'm ready for this party, party, party to be over with and we can start seeing how he's going to fulfill his promises! (Although I am terrified what his "changes" will mean for the military folk...).

Sending virtual Vitamin C to Dee Dee... hope your week is a little more lax and you can pump out those P90x's!! After pics? Ohhh!!

I'm wondering about all the $$$ spent on this 'party' today. Who's paying for that and how? Anyway, pictures, yes, yes, yes!

Finally, a rational thinker in America! :) I am so done with all the hype. I don't even want to turn on the TV today.

Anyway, keep rocking that P90X - no pressure, but, yes, we are all waiting for the after photos. ;)

I can't wait to see those pics! Post em' Hottie!

WOW....bring on the pics! P90X is totally insane. I'm rocking the P__XYZ or something like that. I'm taking Tony's idea of muscle confusion to the extreme*(that's what it is all about right?).

I'm mixing days up for cardio (running/spin) days with the upper body workouts. Plus I've got a few races coming up, no doing any legs and plyos a couple days before that.

I can't wait to see your pics!

Please tell Dee Dee about the magic green elixir - capital N, little y....

There is a huge difference between hype and hope. Hope has power hype does not. I feel a lot of hope today and in the days ahead.

Wow, your cynicism has me down, dude. Personally, I am excited for this administrative change: the last eight years have represented nothing but reckless idiocy and foolishness. And listening to Obama's speech today gave me shivers; nothing Bush ever said had that affect, but maybe that's because I was cringing every time he opened his mouth.

Jess said...

I thought Obama's speech today hit on all of the important issues that face the country right now and I really hope he can start working to turn things around because goodness knows we need it.

Glad you and Dee Dee had fun on date night! I hope she feels better!!

Bring on the pics, Wes!!

I agree with BOB-Blogmyruns.com, completely. I was very excited for this day, and not just because Barack talks about change. We all hope and look forward to change, and Barack is straight forward in saying that it isn't going to happen over night.

I am just as thrilled to see Bush be done. Period. Some of Bush's decisions have affected A LOT of us personally, and continue to do so. Don't take any of this personally, I just have a bone to pick with him.... and will for the next year or so... again. In so many words... "I'm not ready to make nice"

So you took her out and made her sick? I'm guessing that isn't the reaction you were hoping for...

Glad you guys had a fun night out. Hope DeeDee feels better soon!

I cant agree with you more. Hope and change is nothing but empty rhetoric. I truly hope I am wrong but I have extremely low expectations. I do want him to succeed, but only in how I see success, which doesnt involve bigger government or trillion dollar deficits

Wes, interesting feedback on Obama...and one of the first I have read on the contrary...Remember, I am living in the MIX of Oprah + Chicago + Illinois, so you can not EVER EVER Mutter any words in Chicago (or the mob will come) other than OBAMA. Honestly, I was just excited to see the country excited and democracy at work....but, I understand & respect your thoughts, for sure! Hope DeeDee feels better and you post pics soon!

Time will tell Wes, time will tell. He is my President and like it or not he is your President.

What else could he screw up?

Wes said...

No, he's not my president. He's the president selected by my people, and that is good enough for me. There is plenty for him to screw up.

Journey to a Centum said...

You should know that John McCain had my full attention and my vote until he self destructed at the end of his campaign. He lacked/or lost his message and he picked a moron for a VP. In my opinion McCain lost because of President Bushes 8 years of lying and deception. And yes, I voted for President Bush twice. Your unhappiness probably stems from our Governments failures that have put our industry and economy in turmoil. Both parties were involved. What matters is that changes need to take place that regulate our banking industry, prime the pump for manufacturing and construction, and implement an affordable health care system.

President Obama has already shown his commitment to change by the Cabinet Secretaries he has appointed.

I think SNL will still be provided with plenty of fodder for their political satire. Although I'm sure Gov. Palin would have made their ratings go through the roof! We gotta believe that Vice President Biden will provide his fair share of gaffs.

Time will tell. In this case we should both hope America made the right choice.

Always thinking Wes. That's good. I'll do the hoping and dreaming. I need that these days; it works for me. As for loosing up DeeDee, Marcy does have a point. Dinner and dancing does sound fun, as well as whatever comes afterwards (no pun intended). Enjoy you two love birds.

In a free market society, there are no government failures. I would have been quite pleased to see the entire banking system and the auto industry go belly up. It's what they deserve after decades of just foolish crap.

I didn't vote for McCain or Obama, not because I didn't like Obama, but because he has zero experience. Maybe that will allow him to cut through the bullshit in Washington and get stuff done. That remains to be seen.

What I am afraid of is all this hope is based on hype, and the crash is going to be a glorious thing (if you are into death and destruction, I am not) I want Obama to succeed.

My official position is cautiously optimistic, but skeptical.
