P.E.S.

Yes. It's true. I have come to the unalterable conclusion that I suffer from, shhhhh, P.E.S. For those of you who are not up on your acronyms, that's Post Exercise Stress disorder. This phenomenon occurs after taking your body to not so familiar (and) uncharted waters. The symptoms are bloating, eating everything in sight, and a strong desire to lie in bed in the morning moaning and groaning about sore body parts.

I am happy to report that I am starting to feel like my old self today. While I am still suffering from the last symptom, everything else is starting to come around. No doubt, my usual bout of sluggishness this morning was brought on by my 100 meter test yesterday. My usual 25 minute drive to the gym (from work) turned into an ugly one hour and fifteen minute commute. I was late. I threw on my brand new pair of Jammers and hit the pool. For all of my swimming tri gods and goddesses, here are my times, please feel free to comment:

1. 1:28
2. 1:39
3. 1:40

Not bad at all for a first test. I would have been happy to have three trial runs all in the 1:30s, but that just ain't the way it happened. I'll take the average of 1:36 seconds and go from there. What I do know is that my endurance really really sucks :-) I have a lot to work on.

Oh, my poor legs! Nothing serious mind ya, just a dull "I'm reminding you we're still here" ache in the shins and knees. I'm still going to try and get my 30 minute run in tonight, thunderstorms be damned, but I won't be doing any sub-10 minute miles.

Alright everybody! Gear up!! Lisa is doing her first half marathon this weekend. Let's show her the love and support we've all come to expect...

Wes

OSN: 500 meters, 1x100 warmup, 3x100 test, 1x100 warm down

WOW, you're fast!

But, if you're that sore...you might be over-doing it. (Like I should talk!)Seriously though, take care of yourself!

I can relate to your comment that your endurance stinks.Seems like good 100 numbers to me. I am currently working on endurance in the water (and technique) over speed.

P.E.S. hmm, i think i resemble that remark as well!

Like, Neese, I like occasionally waking to sore body. Lets me know that I did some major work.

And, like Jessica, if you're terrible sore for more than a day, you might be over-doing it. Take it easy. :)

Before I broke my wrist, I was swimming regularly with Masters 2x a week. I have no clue what my 100 times are... I should have someone time me, I suppose. It'd be fun to know. I do know, however, I'm the slowest of those in the slow lane. :)

Like you, I am always keening aware that my legs are there. It is a feeling that you just grow to love.

Your conversion to tri geek (or is that tri god), continues. Good work, Wes.
